ConcentryX
ConcentryX is a game I made to progress my Unity learning.
The influences for this game are "Asteroids" and "break-out" - your ship is in a fixed position and enemies attack from all directions. The game area contains patterns of images, or words, are made up of small segments like in Break Out games and can be destroyed by shooting them - some of these drop power-ups and are marked with a question mark to show you - these power ups are referred to as 'Pills' in the game, a nod to the classic break-out game 'Arkanoid'.
Auto-fire - no need to press a button to fire, just hold the thumbstick in the direction you want to shoot - this is a nod to the hyper-casual 'clicker' genre - I guess you could call this a 'holder'?
Customise your ship and tackle unlimited levels to achieve a high score, but don't forget to collect power-ups along the way to help you.
You get one life and when you die, you die and everything resets, but shields, health pills and special weapons drop regularly, so use them well!
Maybe you get lucky and find the lightning and clear the screen in an instant, maybe not though.
Almost everything can be destroyed, even planets, but you want to leave those until the end to give yourself time to harvest all the power-ups before moving on to the next level - the level ends when the last enemy dies.
There are a number of bosses which you will face alone; initially, but in the later levels, expect some cameos.
There's a cheat menu if you can find it. A small button board I made for testing.
Click on a Blue Star - I can say no more ;)
The purpose of this game was for me to learn more about automated level creation, the use of prefabs, the use of post-processing effects, performance balancing, garbage collection and enemy creation.
This is my second Android game, the first (Awkward Robot) I wasn't happy with, issues like performance and overall clunkiness so I wanted a do-over and this is it.
ConcentryX is free to download on Play Store and PC.
